The Ultimate Guide to Brunch in Lisbon: 5 Spots You Can't Miss

Brunch table spread

Lisbon’s food scene has exploded in recent years, and nowhere is this more evident than in its brunch culture. Gone are the days when a simple tosta mista was your only mid-morning option. Today, the city is dotted with incredible cafes serving everything from specialty coffee to towering stacks of pancakes.

After years of “research” (it’s a tough job, but someone has to do it), here are our absolute favourite places to enjoy a slow morning in Lisbon.

Heim Café

Located in the Santos design district, this tiny spot started the wave of Instagrammable brunches in the city. It’s bright, minimalist, and almost always has a queue—but it’s worth the wait.

Best for: Waffle lovers and serious coffee drinkers.

Why we love it: The “Sweet & Salty” waffle with bacon and berries is legendary. Plus, the service is incredibly friendly despite how busy they get.

Coffee and Waffles

Fauna & Flora

With locations in Santos, Anjos, and Chiado, Fauna & Flora is a green oasis. The decor is filled with hanging plants and wood accents, making you feel like you’re dining in a greenhouse. The menu focuses on healthy, fresh ingredients without sacrificing flavour.

Best for: Vegetarians, vegans, and healthy eaters.

Our tip: Try their signature “Nests”—poached eggs on a bed of greens and rosti potato. Pair it with one of their fresh botanical juices.

Zenith - Brunch & Cocktails

If you’re near Avenida da Liberdade or Norte, Zenith is the place to go for a more indulgent “party brunch” vibe. They serve brunch all day, every day, and they are famous for their cocktails as much as their food.

Best for: Groups of friends and boozy brunches.

Why we love it: The menu is vast. From their Oreo pancakes to Shakshuka, they have something for everyone. It’s industrial-chic and has a great energy on weekends.

Dear Breakfast

Minimalist architecture meets egg perfection. With whitewashed arches and marble tables, this is arguably the most stylish place to start your day. They have locations in Bica, Chiado, and Alfama.

Best for: Design lovers and egg purists.

Our tip: The Eggs Benedict here are arguably the best in town. If you are staying in one of our Alfama apartments, the downtown location is just a short walk away.

Avocado Toast

Neighbourhood Café

A bit of Australia in Lisbon. Located near Santos, this spot takes its coffee seriously and offers some of the best breakfast burritos in the city. It has a relaxed, cool vibe that feels very local.

Best for: A hearty breakfast after a big night out.

Why we love it: The Turkish Eggs and the Kimchi Scramble. It’s a flavour bomb that wakes you up instantly.

Our Recommendation

If you only have time for one, we recommend Fauna & Flora in Santos. It captures the modern, laid-back spirit of new Lisbon perfectly. Afterward, you can walk along the riverfront or explore the Madragoa neighbourhood nearby.

Enjoy your brunch!
